Our story

Not Your Mother’s Menopause, And Definitely Not on the Bottom Shelf.

At 50, something shifted. I wasn’t myself and I didn’t know why.

I’ve always been even keeled. Calm under pressure. The voice of reason. And then one day, I found myself snapping at people I love raising my voice, losing my patience, and feeling like my brain was literally… shaking. The anxiety crept in like a stranger. I’d lie awake at night, going over the day’s “should-haves,” haunted by a new kind of restlessness I had never felt before. And the sleep? Gone. The hot flashes? Arriving on schedule 2am, like clockwork. My words? Sometimes, they just disappeared mid-sentence.

What was happening to me?

No one had ever talked to me about this. Not my mother. Not school. Not even my doctors. My OB/GYN recommend going back on the pill! Menopause had been treated like a taboo something to quietly suffer through. So, like many of us, I went searching for answers. First stop? Whole Foods, where I found myself literally on all fours, digging through the dusty bottom shelf to find a sad selection of menopause products. It was humiliating. Then GNC where the young guy behind the counter (mid-bulk cycle, of course) directed me to the “low libido aisle.” I wanted to disappear.

That’s when I knew: We deserve better.

I started Bold Birds to create what I couldn’t find a vibrant, judgment-free space where women can shop for midlife wellness without shame, confusion, or embarrassment. A place where we define the experience of menopause not outdated myths, awkward store layouts, or silence.

Because here’s the truth: this isn’t the end of anything. It’s the beginning.

At this stage in life, I know who I am. I’m not here to impress anyone or shrink myself for anyone else’s comfort. Midlife is our time a season of re-birth, creativity, confidence, and unapologetic power. But we can’t thrive if we’re constantly battling symptoms in the dark. If we can take care of the physical changes with tools that work, we can fully step into the freedom and joy waiting on the other side.

Bold Birds is for all of us the curious, the exhausted, the fiery, the foggy. The ones waking up in a puddle at 2am, or crying in the parking lot for no reason, or wondering if we’re the only ones. (We’re not.)

Let’s rewrite the narrative. Let’s make this season bold, beautiful, and better together.
